Smashed BUrger

Easy Homemade Smash Burgers
Taken & Modified from:
Carnal Dish

Preptime: About 40 minutes
Cook Time: ~ 10 minutes
Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Stick butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon fish sauce (a MUST for this recipe)
  • Liquid smoke (just a few splashes)
  • Cheese of your choice

DIRECTIONS:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, I use my hands and make sure it’s well mixed. It gets a little sticky.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS then coat them in a little Canola oil (or preferred cooking oil. This is to prevent the meat sticking to your hands for the next part).
  • Make 3-4oz meatballs and place them on a plate.
  • Cover with plastic, throw it in the fridge for a half hour for that butter to get a little harder. This will allow a more firm patty.
  • Get your skillet/Grittle/Flat top piping hot
  • Now add your meat balls, let them sit there for 30 seconds and then flip them.
  • SMASH them down as thin as you can get them, I like to cover them with wax paper first then use my bacon press, this will keep them from sticking to my press.
  • Once flattened, add your seasonings if you like*
  • Let the burgers sit until you start to see browning around the edges.
  • Flip the burgers and add a little seasoning on this side too if you like.
  • I like to leave them for a few minutes before I add cheese** to the burgers to ensure done-ness.
  • When the cheese melts you can pull the patties and build your burger.

*I like to season with my stonehouse mix (garlic powder, salt and pepper)
** Use a cheese of your preference, I love these with Havarti
